The Old School House Holiday Cottage is nestled in Howe of Fife, a well-connected and rural location. Built to complement the original school house on site, The Old School House Holiday Cottage has everything you need to enjoy a quiet and peaceful stay in the rolling countryside. Set in the village of Coaltown of Burnturk, the ideal setting to enjoy country walks or just to curl up by the fireside on a rainy day. The house is built on the site of the original school yard, from 1901, and the adjacent property is the original school house. Annie J. Mitchell, who converted both cottages, had a knack for design and managed to acquire the wood that is used throughout the cottage from the then Craufaurd Priory, dating back to 1751. It is Annie and her husband Norman’s initials that are above the door of The Old School House Holiday Cottage.

This cottage is a beautiful space with a lovely and secluded private walled garden. The property is stunning and will not leave you disappointed. On the ground floor is an open plan living space, featuring a double sofa bed. The family bathroom is also on this level, with a shower over the bath. The galleried bedroom is up a flight of stairs and overlooks the living area, though still provides privacy. This comfortable bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath.

The kitchen area is well-equipped with everything you could need to enjoy your stay, and can be hidden behind a set of doors when dining. There are two reading nooks overlooking the rolling countryside and a bookshelf full of books for you to enjoy. The house is rural, with the nearest neighbour half a mile away. The local area is fairly quiet so if you are looking for a peaceful country retreat then this is it! This is a fantastic area for outdoor enthusiasts, as you have magnificent countryside right on your doorstep. The Lomond Hills behind Falkland provide great walks. From Leven, which is only 6 miles to the south, you can access beaches and perhaps walk on part of the Fife Coastal Path, which runs from North Queensferry in the south, 150km to the Tay Bridge in the north, with historic castles, quaint fishing villages and many beautiful beaches and coves to visit along the way. Fishing available nearby. Beach 7¼ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
